Sound Track for the Record The Crystalume Caper

Hey All,
Permit me to introduce myself. I am JCAllison, 79, living in Onalaska, Texas, USA. Have been posting to the Camcorder, Action Cams & Video Making Forum here at AVF for the past two weeks. That Thread can be seen HERE:

The Record The Crystalume Caper

The good folks there, led by MarkE (the moderator) have performed a miracle, in that they have helped get a Desk Top Television System that has been being worked on for about two decades, up and running in less than two week. The Computer that is the central component is named "The Scryer".

There is NOW the second part of The Record The Crystalume Caper that is in need of assistance, and to that end MarkE recommended that I consult with The Pro Audio and Musicians Forum.

Am not going to go into detail in this post, but will just kind of outline the situation, and will later have specific questions about the Sound Track Production and Equipment System that is presently here.

Some of this information has already been broached in the above referenced thread, but here is what is being attempted: Am wanting to do Video Recording of The Crystalume, using original Sound Tracks. We have The Scryer System to do the Video, and we have The Scorcher System to do the Audio Recording.

The situation is that all this is, of necessity, due to conditions beyond my control, having to be done by but one person. This was not always the case, but it is now, as I am confined to a solitary lifestyle imposed by not only age, but also health issues, AND because those who were formerly involved have all passed on.

There were a couple of cohorts (Kenan Doyle Branam and Jay Menier) who were the Television people, and another couple (Pat Fant, and Michael Bludworth) who were the Sound people. The actual making of the Sounds and Images were my responsibility. We were known as The AllisonWonderland Concert Lightshow.

Though I was the impetus behind the endeavor, I was not all that involved with the Television and Sound Equipment, and had but a cursory knowledge of its configuration and operation. BUT NOW, after deciding that The Crystalume needs to once again be recorded, am finding that I'm going to have to know HOW to make everything work by myself. And that's why I'm here. Guidance is needed in connecting everything, and making it function.

As mentioned previously, the necessary guidance in getting all the TV Equipment configured took less than two weeks by the good people here on AVF. Am hoping the same can be done with the Audio Equipment.

So with that said, here is a synopsis of the Sound Equipment that exists here at the moment:

There is a Windows 2000 Computer (The Scorcher), which has a Tyan Trinity Main-Board, and a couple of Seagate Cheeta 10,000 RPM SCSI HDDs. It also has an M-Audio Delta 1010LT Sound Card. The Music Production Software is Cakewalk Home Studio Producer. This is all somewhat tenuously connected to a Yamaha MR1642 Mixing Console. Also connected to the Mixing Console is a MIDI System, and a Concert Sound System (Speakers and Amplifiers).

After getting The Scorcher all connected, am having the same problem with it that was had with The Scryer. It is all functional. Each piece, while antique (the computer term is "Legacy") is deemed to be, by The Scorcher's Device Manager, "Working Properly" It just doesn't work! It needs to be sorted out.

So at this point, and with the above introduction, am hoping that we can get The Scorcher to join The Scryer in becoming functional to the point where I can once again be making the ORIGINAL Sounds for the ORIGINAL Images produced by The Crystalume.

And so that you can get some idea of what the finished product will be like, here is a YouTube URL that (hopefully) will take you to a "Sensatiation" video. This is one of a series of Videos that were made in 1972 by The AllisonWonderland Concert Lightshow. This particular selection's music is "Carry On" by Badfinger. The images are made on The Crystalume

Anyway, hope this finds you all doing well, and taking excellent care. Will be in touch.
