Ah, it was an option, that and the pits, all interviewed for late 70's. I avoided both thankfully. I remember an interview with an engineering firm and telling them they were wrong on the width of a bit of stock metal using a micrometer. I was right, but lost me the job. That firm disappeared years ago.

It's not just Wales, Michelin is closing their tyre factory in Dundee.
It makes smaller tyres and the market for those is mostly Asia so production is moving to cut costs.
850 jobs, the largest employer in Dundee.

Yep, I heard about the closure today. Reminds me of the Birmingham factory closure in the 80's. One remains in Ireland. I wonder how long before they close.
It's like I've woken up in the 70's & 80's again...

Had the letter yesterday from the tax man, warning me my code changes when the circus in Cardiff take over some of the tax powers from 6th April including income tax.

A friend over the border had the same letter. He doesn't know whether to laugh or cry because his Council tax alone is rising on a regular basis. It's the money wasted that annoys him most.

My council tax is one of the highest in the uk and I don't doubt it is going up again. One of the big draws on the locality seems to be recycling and that costs. Welsh gubbmint set high recycle rates and failure to comply gets the council a big fine.
Then we have the local crime commissioner...... 200 notes a year for office furniture or something. Seems that is house value related as well.
Dick Turpin must have been a councillor.

I have no sympathy for a lot of these institutions who cry they have no money when it's clearly being misspent. If this recycled waste is ending up in 3rd world countries I'd say the tax payer is being ripped off. Much of it sounds like a Ponzi scheme. And it goes on and on because no one will challenge it.

Oh dear.
Drakeford set to be Wales’ first minister
How come we get so many lame ducks. New labour leader in the Assembly after the votes are in, after existing leader bows out under a cloud or three.
A Corbynista to boot. At least he seems to be for keeping us in the UK.
Interesting though he is not the assembly leader yet it would seem and that could go to another party, Plaid Cymru nearly ended up with that title after a tense stand off (50/50 at the time). Would have been hilarious had it not been so serious and they want out. Obviously.

Corby wants to break the grip of Blairite Welsh Labour. I just hope Drakeford has the stomach for all the back stabbing he's going to endure.
