No need to get nasty Squiffy, Alan never said the charge was kidnapping, he said a kidnap had occurred (IIRC).It is no more or less accurate/an emotive phrase than those used by other people in the thread to vilify the authorities.He at least has had the sense to let it go, as there is no point arguing with your position...

Alan was talking about the legal situation and made statements that the hosptial was legally responsible for the child, and to remove the child was a kidnap.Which is patently absurd, and which he has not been able to back up.What he did post was legislation relating to a different area - removing the child from the country and not the hospital.
Rather than continue the debate where he apparently knows he has been caught out, he exits the thread.
I don't see anything nasty about holding people to account for the statements they make.Where I am wrong I admit it.If I persisted with making statements that could not be backed up, then I would expect whatever comments came my way.

Good news. Ashya King is clear of cancer.
So the parents were fully justified in seeking the best treatment abroad, which was not available in the UK at the time.
A rather shameful episode by our authorities- especially going to the lengths they did to lock the parents up.

That is great news for the little chap and his family.
Whether or not it is considered 'justifying' their decisions and actions is a whole seperate debate as witnessed above.
Just because something works out for the best does not mean it was the right, fair or sensible thing to do at the time.
An extreme example would be if you liquidated all your assets, sold your house and put it all on the the longest odds horse in the Grand National. Even if you won, very few people if any would consider that you were justified in your actions.
The issue and debate is, exactly where on the scale of reasonable/rational versus irrational/irresponsible does the case of Ashya King fall.

Well your example it not right. If you remember the hospital in Southampton did not have the right equipment. The doctors said that with equipment they had it would likely damage his brain and that is why the parents took things into their own hands to give their child the best treatment abroad. The father had done his research and proton therapy, as I remember, could pin point the cancer.
How many of us would have been brave enough and take that chance with our child by taking him abroad...? You?
By being timid, your child would have been denied that specialised treatment and he would be permanently brain damaged.
