See my previous post.

In years past there was a trade off. Now the public sector get more money and better benefits.

The private sector roundabouts have been taxed away to pay for the public sector swings.

You're saying you get paid more? So in your sector (which presumably you know well) what you're saying is not true.

Here's a shock for you.

My salary does not represent the whole private sector.

I'm surprised you'd make such a rookie mistake.

There's a reason that our public sector client has engaged my employer. We have skills that they do not.

You really want me to go dig out the recent reports that the public sector get paid more, they get paid more even when adjusting for levels of education, etc.

So what you're saying is, in your own personal experience, you're better off in the private sector. But you're upset because some report you've read suggests some public sector workers are better off than some private sector workers?

I think you need to get over it. Enjoy what you've got. It's no different to some socialist going on about banker's bonuses.

For my particular skillset I'm better in the private sector. No public sector employer would have the work to keep me on permanently. I could do a lesser skilled job, and I've given some thought to that with my current public sector client.

Not sure what I need to get over. It's an open debate isn't it?

It is. I'm saying that in like for like comparisons ( public / private - teachers / doctors) there would appear to be little or no difference in pensions, but pay and or conditions are often slightly better in the private sector.

We can take one sector as a whole against the other, but there are so many variables it's a little pointless.

Well paid private sector workers tend to have a chip on their shoulders about the public sector.

Given the shortage of (some) public sector workers, especially nurses and teachers, it would appear the government should be looking at improving our pensions, pay and conditions, not worsening them further, regardless of what's happening inunrelated private sectors.

Nhs pension vs private hospital pension. The Nhs pension is vastly superior, salaries are similar mid band 8. However the private hospital has a clear path for professional development and progression. The ethos is far more customer orientated in the private hospital. The ability to manage staff is also clearer, either helping them progress or removing them from their posts if they are quite clearly out of their depth.

So once again, it's swings and roundabouts.

Well the Nhs claims to advance professional development, that seems to have fallen by the wayside. Pension contributions would have to double to even to begin to compare.
