Another Terrorist attack.. Is this part of normal life now?
A van has ploughed into crowds in Barcelona's famous Las Ramblas tourist area.People were killed and injured as the vehicle sped along the pedestrianised area, sending many fleeing for cover in shops and cafes.
Witnesses said the van had deliberately targeted people before coming to a stop.
El Pais newspaper said the driver of the vehicle had fled on foot after mowing down dozens of people.
Police are treating the incident as a terror attack.
To misquote our Mayer - we should expect this kind of attack these days.
Who can accept this?

Barcelona: Van rams crowds in Ramblas tourist area - BBC News It's hard not to accept there's a risk of terror attacks, seemingly increasing, without ever accepting the attacks themselves.
I do hope we never see the days when it becomes a page 7 byline though. This may sound awful and disgusting but this attack and others of late show that the western world anti terrorist measures are somewhat working to an extent.
The attacks are now lone wolf low tech events that it seems will be the hardest to weed out I'm afraid. Very sad events again. Way too many innocent lives lost and altered forever. To answer the OP, seemingly it appears to be heading that way.
I've only just got home.Been a long day and not checked in with the Beeb/Forums etc.
Just saw the headline on the Beeb.Clicked, had a look, read a bit of the story etc etc, then clicked on the sport and checked the cricket.
It's almost getting to the stage now when you're expecting something like this to pop up because it's been several weeks (granted there were the attacks in the US but i'm thinking more along the line of the islamist nutters) since the last one.
This will be the norm now until the powers that be change course. Just realised there was another attack last week in France.

Yup.Getting part of normal life. Just as IRA violence became the norm and attacks didn't even make it to page 1, I think these Muslim terrorist attacks are going the same way. The Mayor was correct - it is just part and parcel of life. Terrorist attacks are just pat and parcel of living in Europe. I've done my part and changed my fb picture to one with a Spanish flag filter and shared some sad cartoons. Difficult to see what could be done to prevent these people weaponising vehicles. I guess the only "positive" is that most are unable to access assault rifles etc. The new normal.
I'm not even going to contribute to the new thread in GC about it because I have nothing new to say since the last one.
