Combi boiler & CO

Hi. I have a Combi boiler in the loft. Would you recommend a CO or CO/ Smoke Detector in the loft or elsewhere? Thanks in advance.

if you fit it in the loft, will you hear it ?

Ok so where's the most logical place to site the CO alarm?

On the ceiling, as close as possible to the loft trapdoor entrance.

... Assuming the trapdoor is on the ceiling above the stairwell landing.

Thanks. Do I need to put any kind of alarm in the loft? A combined alarm perhaps?

It would make sense to have an alarm in the attic. If nothing else it will high-light any faults with the boiler. If you get detectors that are all connected wirelessly that may be the way ahead.
Also if the boiler is giving off CO, then going into the attic may be unwise. If you have a detector outside of the loft which doesn't pick up a problem, you may enter the loft with a false sense of security. Also a smoke detector in the attic may give you a bit of extra warning of a fire breaking out.

Sounds sensible. Perhaps I'll go down that route...thanks.

Can you get a CO alarm that uses a remote sounder?
That way it could detect CO in the loft and hear it in the house.

That's the one I had in mind.

The sensor part in the loft near the boiler and the alarm sounder part on the ceiling by the loft trapdoor.

What about a CO/Smoke alarm combined in the loft and a seperate CO alarm sited at High level next to the loft hatch on the landing?
