Anyone wanting good curry recipes/ingredients could do worse than look here:

Indian Food, Indian Spices, Indian Grocery, Cooking Ingredients and Recipes

I have tried a few of their recipes and they turned out to be quite authentic, whatever that means. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I am on pretty good terms with them all so there could be a bit of banter. May even take a sample down for them to try out... and then charge em... if they like it maybe even open my own curry house. White guy owning an Indian in Tooting serving well tasty currys. I reckon that would be a first.

Thanks for the tip. Will maybe give this another crack cooking smaller side dish type portions so if i dont get it right then at least loads of food aint going to waste.

Only cooked my own curry from scratch the once. It ruined my designer plastic spoon. Must have been the turmeric, nasty stuff data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Well here's my attempt at Chicken Balti and Pilau Rice. It was really tasty but perhaps a bit too much. First time I had used saffron toodata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

We cook our own curry at least once a week - once you have all the spices and stuff in it's a really cheap meal, although adding naan and pappodoms (sp?) costs a couple of quid. We tend just to make it up as we go along, but might try something a bit more interesting off the site in the first post. Using things like fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, chilli pickle and boiled egg makes for a nice variety of flavours and textures to change the basic balti / tandoori tastes from mixing up all the usual spices (ok, and curry powder, cheating a bit there) in various proportions.
