South Yorkshire.

The Old Weighing Room at Doncaster Racecourse. Only open at weekends.

The Dower House, Bawtry for a curry.

Massala, Bentley. Curry but best of all BYO.

The Georgian Tea Room in the town centre for Afternoon tea. Doncaster has a Purple voucher book that offers 2 for 1 so worth getting if you are in the area.

I'll add some of my favourites.

County: Lincolnshire / Lincs
Area: Bourne
Jubilee Garage.
It's a burger joint. Proper, big juicy burgers. Been loads of times with my family. Not once have we had a bad meal. Prices are good, not silly like some pretentious artisan burger places tend to be. Portions are big enough that we struggle, so dogs get a treat when we are home. The décor is 50's / 60's motor racing as Bourne is the home of BRM. Two bars, but we have only ever been for meals with kids.

County: Lincolnshire / Lincs
Area: Frognall near Market Deeping.
The Goat.
Traditional country pub. Low ceilings, log fire. Good mix of traditional pub grub and more fancy fine dining. So my family is happy when we go out together, or if my wife and I want a civilised evening alone, also perfect. A bit more pricey than a normal pub meal, but worth it as a treat.

County: Cambridgeshire / Cambs
Area: Cambridge city centre.
The Varsity hotel and River Bar steak house.
Not for the family. This is a treat for me and my wife. The hotel is great with rooftop bar and BBQ. But the best meals for us were in the steak house next door (part of the hotel). It is expensive, but worth it as a treat. On our first trip there my wife had steak and swore never to eat steak again as there was no chance of it ever being better! She has since taken up the challenge again. Breakfast was top notch. Looking over the Cam, literally on the outskirts of the city. Currently saving up for another weekend there.

I lived and worked in your area for a year . We used to visit a pub north of Scunthorpe ( Humber ways ? )that I believe was called The Dolphin ? Best danm steak I've ever had in my life with insane portions that could not fit on the plate . If memory serves all fish was line caught. Fantastic place that before you opened the door you could smell the steak searing

Not local at all but ours is:
The Little Geranium
La Cala de Mijas
Costa del Sol

Been a few times and with 2 adults and 2 teenage kids we make sure to try and eat a different meal each so we can all have a taste of each.

Menu varies and Stephen, the chef, makes the effort to come out and talk to all his diners.
