Its one of the few instant read handheld ones and its a god send for me. Doing low and slow cooks it allows me to judge perfectly. I tend to use it when doing steak on the griddle too as you can pick up the "doneness" very easily.
Tempted to upgrade mine as i've had this one a good few years now
