Man killed by e-pen

Bit of an error in the following articles name as it wasn't a pen but a mech mod. Crazy stuff 80% burns and two fragments in the head.

US man killed by exploding vape pen

Shouldn’t it really say.
Man killed by exploding battery inside e-cig?

It’s been on the cards for a while. When I started all you could get was mech mods but the batteries where low powered devices and on my Screwdriver device when the atty had a problem it would go pop and a internal spring would shrink.
Now you have more powerful batteries extra care is needed.
When regulated mods appeared and even simple devices like my old ego pen it made vaping safer.
It could have been a damaged battery, a bad atty or the device was dirty and lack of maintenance.
I really can’t see the point of mech mods now when you have so many good regulated devices.

I'd never go near a mech.
I appreciate they are safe in experienced hands, and with an understanding of Ohms Law etc but I don't have that knowledge.

Like you say Newfie, I just can't see the point of taking the risk, given today's regulated mods.

Most likeky shorted battery.

Problem with tube mechs also is that they are sealed bottom is often screwed on so any battery explosion is going to be bad. (Remember the bit in Armageddon about the firecracker in hand or closed hand?)

I always check my batterys for any break in the wrap. Careful use and should be fine, only mech I have is a geekvape Athena squonk and always keeps ohms sensible.
Had a smok tube mech and that was a solid bit of kit prob get bad explosions out of that lol got rid of it tho.
