E-Cigarette Advice

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been asked already but I've tried my best to search the forum. Basically I'm looking to buy an e-cigarette kit for my father to help him stop smoking and a friend has recommended the mid-sized eGo type as they worked well for him. I've realised these are commonly referred to as e-shisha or e-hookah as well as e-cigarette and I can't find any difference between the two. All I can tell is if you decide to use flavoured liquid which does not contain nicotine then that's more like an e-shisha and if you use liquid containing nicotine then that'll act more like an e-cigarette.

My first question is, is my understanding correct? I've seen a good kit on eBay but it is referred to as e-shisha rather than e-cigarette but doesn't come with any liquid. If I can confirm it's only the liquid that matters I'll get your opinions on the kit and buy it and then get the appropriate liquid.

TIA!

I'm pretty sure ebay doesnt allow e-cigs on their site so the term e-shisha might be a work around for people?

Ahh you might have a point there. A quick Google and it looks like eBay have gone with the conservative approach and banned the sale of e-cigs until they remain unapproved by various health bodies. That will explain why I've seen mostly "e-shishas" and certainly explains why I couldn't find anyone selling the liquid which contains nicotine.

So looks like if I buy one of these e shishas and get the liquid elsewhere I'm sorted? Any suggestions for where to get the nicotine liquid?

I believe your one has a different clearomiser but I use those and they're great.

freddyq Publish time 26-11-2019 20:58:12

You mean you use the type of clearomiser in the eBay kit and they're good? Which bit in the description is the clearomiser?

Bill Hicks Publish time 26-11-2019 20:58:13

Yes the clearomiser on the e-Bay kit is a CE5 that are good.*
It's the clear tube that attaches onto the battery that contains the wick & element (see attached diagram) you fill this tube with e-liquid that is soaked into the wick that is then vaporised by the heating element, think of a paraffin lantern, same principal. This vapour is then inhaled by the user when he/she presses a button on the battery. Some batteries are automatic and the sucking action alone activates the element. E-liquid comes in varying nicotine strengths from 0mg to 24mg or higher. What the user inhales is water vapour that contains the nicotine, or not if you use 0mg. The wick/element attachment has a lifespan that can be a week or more, and will need replacing when dead. Not an exact timeframe though as I've had CE5's that have died after a day or two, and some that are on their 3rd month. Ditto the batteries that don't last forever but you should get longer use out of them than the clearomisers. Taking into account the cost of replacement batteries, clearomisers & e-liquid it still works out a whole lot cheaper than smoking conventional cigarettes as well as safer/healthier.

Any questions you should post on the dedicated E-Cigarette thread on GC.

Thanks Bill - that makes a lot more sense and I will post further questions on the GC thread.
