New cpu and motherboard

Came home from work tonightswitched in pc and nothing. Error codes on asus board showed 00 (cpu apparently)
Gpu was lit with fan running, psu fan was running and 4 of 5 case fans. One at rear connected to motherboard was not working

It's been flaky for a while not recognising slot 1 of ram occasionally (no matter which dimm)

So decided to take opportunity and upgrade. Was thinking and 3700x with x570 board, could prob replace the ram as well. New psu might be considered

Any recommendations on motherboard? Thinking msi carbon

And can I stick stock cooler or should I get a new one even cutting money from ram?

Is this just for gaming ?
do you really need the x570 ? ( PCIe 4 - faster NVMe drives ?)
you could get away with the x470 or even the b450 ( with both needing a bios update )

what you would spend on the x570 , you could probablyget the ram and PSU with the savings if you went with any other the other two .

It will be a lot for gaming. I saw the older boards but not sure on the bios update being worth the hassle

The x570 I was looking at are only about £40 more than x470.

I'd go for a X470 board purely to avoid stupid motherboard fans.

Some of the b450 and x470 have a bios "flash" button on the mobo , sono need to have the older CPU to do the update , ( some of MSI's mobo have this option im guessing other have it too )

it's been while since looking at the price of the x570 , but i thought their were stupidly priced
but still £40 could knock a decent amount of a new PSU or ram.

The 3700x comes with the Wraith Prism so no need for a new cooler. Hardware Unboxed did a video on VRM temps of cheaper x570 boards. The Asus TUF and Aorus Elite came out on top. The MSI Gaming Edge had awful temps so I'd check to see what they're like on the Carbon. They also did a video on the boost clock performance on different boards, both are linked in the AMD 7nm products thread data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I was looking at aorus board. Seems to have a lot of good options
Not sure how hot stock cooler will run. Experience seem to vary with idle being from late 30s to about 50c. And then going from 60s to late 70c when in use

The Aorus boards seem to be good on x570 alright. There's a few videos kicking around on the Wraith vs AIO coolers and you would get a slight performance increase at lower temps. If you did wanna go that route you could always sell the Prism to offset the cost.

Well after much deliberation purchased 3700x then went overboard and added gigabyte x570 aorus ultra board.
The reviews show cpu cooler doesn't help performance but really helps with temps on 3rd gen. So went a bit mad and ordered deepcool castle 360mm aio, there was £20 off on amazon for ordering before tomorrow
Should all be here Saturday. Just need to clear out case of current parts
