Unlocking a broken phone.

Good day everyone.
Last week my father broke his mobile phone by accidentally letting it fall. The phone itself still works; you can turn it on, you get all the notifications (because you can hear them) and you can even screenshot. However, the display is broken - you can neither see something, nor can you press anything on it. My father would really want to have some pictures that are on this phone, but we can't put them on the pc, because for it the mobile needs to be unlocked. The problem is, as stated, the display is broken, so we can't unlock it. Is there a way one could bypass the lock or unlock it externally, like through a computer programme?

Yes you should be able to through developer mode. But surely the photos are backed up, and also synchronised to Google Cloud? That would be far easier to get the photos

Developer mode is not for the feign hearted to get connected and it running.

If you have no backup of the photos, and they weren't synchronised to Google Cloud, you may want to use one of the many programs with a GUI that can do this. Or if you had USB access enabled than you may be able to read the camera folder when you plug it in.
