Most Tonearms can handle a range of Cartridges. Simply re-balance the tonearm, reset the tracking weight and everything will work fine.

What kind of turntable do you have?

There are many video on YouTube including from manufacturers for balancing the Tonearm and setting the tracking weight. Take a look at a few, and you should have the hang of it.

Usually a channel imbalance is due to an incorrect anti skating setting...

This is true. I have a turntable that has a small notched arm on the back of the tonearm that a small counter-weight hangs off of. The notches do not allow the most precise adjustment. I tried three different notches and found slight channel imbalance with all but the center one.

Most, whether weight or dial, approximate the Anti-Skate because more precise settings are outside the range of most users. If you have a blank (no grooves) record, you can set the anti-skate so the needle neither skates to the inside or the outside of the vinyl. But such special requirements are beyond a typical user.

However, if you listen carefully, you can hear when the Anti-Skate is right. Though it takes a keen ear and a distraction free environment.
