Home Burglar/Intruder Alarm.

Hi to all….!!

Can anybody recommend a good home alarm system for under or around the £200 mark?

Not sure whether to go down the route of having a wireless one with a smart app (although I have heard these have a tendency to drop of your network when the home Wi-Fi has lots of online connected devices i.e. games consoles, TVs, mobile phones, tablets, etc. as the alarm has the lowest dependency hence why it may drop off when not in use) or a wired one although this obviously escalates the cost!

There are SO many options out there, it’s difficult to know where to start (I don’t currently have a system whereby it can have add-ons i.e. I don’t have anything whichis smart enabled like central heating, lights, water boiler, front door, appliances, etc., etc.)

Thoughts?

I was looking at few low cost ones a while ago and whilst they look ok, quite a few dont have an external siren, or capability to add one, which seems a bit pointless. So I just kept my old Infinite one which does t have any wifi but does have a siren.,

Following a break in a few years ago my mum had a wireless system (not wifi) put in. Including the front and back door sensors, room sensors, outside wall box and approx 5 key fobs (she gave each of us one) came to £850 installed.

There are some good threads in the Tech & Gadget sub forum

Yep, we paid the same.
If you want cheap, then a bellbox front and back would be all you need for the average scote to look next door instead. Danny Ocean and his crew only do domestic when they know there is something worth taking

Ring Alarm starter kit from Costco is £219...

If you need more sensors or other devices the price will go up. The devices (like with most alarms) don't use wifi to communicate with each other, don't worry about that.

Thanks for this - thats actually not a bad price considering what you get!
