UK Smart Home Security

Hi, wonder if someone can help here, or at least give me their two cents on the matter.

My girlfriends Dad wants a smart home security setup where it's completely wireless and he gets notifications on his phone.

Looking online it seems the majority of the smart home systems are inconsistently reviewed or are only available in the US.

I had a look at Simplisafe which seems to be the best reviewed all round, but it comes with a £19.99 monthly monitoring fee which I'm not sure he's going to want to commit to.

I've also found Yale, Ring and a few others but can't find anything that is consistently well reviewed.

He's mainly looking for the following;
1 Smart Camera4 Door Sensors4 Window SensorsApp NotificationsCan anyone recommend or at least point me in the direction that may help me find something that suites?

Cheers

Luke

I have the Yale one. It's very reliable, but the app is a bit clunky in places and there's no integrations with anything.

The sensors are basically the same as all their old wireless systems so very tried and tested.

Then add cheap Xiaomi contact and motion sensors (as well as other zigbee/z-wave devices such as lights, sirens, leak sensors etc.)

You seem to be focussed on the new off the shelf products. An alarm fitter can fit you a system, such as the Risco Agility 4, which is wireless, with phone notifications and will be SSAIB approved for potential insurance discount.

Proper kit is superior to the Yale stuff, when I checked insurance the discount was tiny and the required annual checkup to qualify was expensive and the alarm company told me they don't like it as the kit is fit and forget.

Risco was recommended by my local alarm shop as was pyronix enforcer, I need up fitting the latter myself (half the cost) and it was pretty easy. Been over a year and totally solid with no troubles or battery issues yet. Next door has the Risco system but no cameras and they are equally happy.

The ricochet kit is supposed to be good for areas with really solid walls as it forms a mesh, harder to install but there is a pc cable I believe that makes it easier.

The Ring Alarm system is getting some good reviews. At least it looks smart compared to some of the other options, in my opinion. Ring Protect Plans

Easy to install, just add some sensors to the starter package, pick one of their cameras, perhaps even add a doorbell. And there is one simple phone app with notifications. And actually an app that is maintained and uses the capabilities of the phone properly.
