E27 Smart Bulbs

Hey, so her indoors has ordered a light fitting that takes 6 E27 bulbs. I have 2 hue ambience for the side lights she's ordered but didn't really want to go to the expense of buying 6 more. Any suggestions or do I just go cheap and buy the hue white? I don't need colour.

I'd probably suggest going Hue white since you've already invested in the ecosystem. It will also give you the greatest flexibility (ability to address each lamp) as well.

After having a read on others like the Ikea or Innr I may just stick with the white ones for ease...

Do you use Apple Homekit?

I've got some Innr white ambience that at the time were cheaper than hue white ambience and I've been pleased with them. Last time I checked they were about the same price as Hue white so I think the upgrade to tuneable white was worthwhile.

Compared to hue bulbs there's 2 main disadvantages, the first being no Homekit support but I'm not an apple user.

The other is lack of support for power on settings. Hue bulbs can be set so they don't come on if power is lost and restored. I use them in other areas and have a timer running on the hub that automatically powers off the none hue bulbs in the even of a power cut when the hub reboots itself.

Personally in your situation I'd be holding out for an Amazon event like black Friday and getting the Philips white ambience, I'd be very surprised if there weren't good offers on.

I tried a cheap alternative to the Hue E27 colour bulbs and it just wasn’t as bright or vibrant as my other Hue bulbs. Picked up another Hue bulb for £25 on eBay.

So I got the hue white, 6 of them on 1 fitting how do I get Siri or Alexa to turn them all on. I have them named “big light” “big light 2” etc but if I say Siri turn bight lights on only the first one come on.

I have either the hue app or iConnectHue app.

On my system I added all the bulbs for a light to it’s own room. So there would be a big light room, so when you say big light on, all the bulbs in that room come on.

You can group bulbs together to form one “light”. I did it on one of my fittings with multiple bulbs. Just googled a guide... HomeKit Automation: How to properly group accessories

Ignore. I see you want to do this in hue app. Sorry. Do as @Puntoboy said.
