Alexa Whispers

I have been a big fan of Echo Dots for a while. Count is up to 5 and climbing. My biggest criticism is the one in the bedroom, at night is loud when responding to lights on/off commands, that was until I discovered ‘whisper’ mode. Now I can whisper to her at night and she whispers acknowledgements back, without waking SWMBO. My kids absolutely hate it, they find her whispering too creepy.

You can also turn the acknowledgements off completely, as I've done in my childs room

Yep I found this the other night when I went to bed. I wanted to wind my wife up by playing Cotton Eye Joe by the Rednecks in the kitchen, but you can usually hear Alexa respond when I give her the command so she knows it’s coming and turns off the Echo in the kitchen. Now I can do it stealthily and she at least here’s the first few seconds data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Just tried it with the one in the bedroom (whilst my partner is asleep next to me), didn’t work. What’s the trick!?
