Smoke/CM detector with Hive?

Hi all

Currently moving in to our new home and looking to upgrade the smoke detectors to something like the Nest ones. These seem the best buy at the moment.

I purchased the Hive heating system on Prime Day for a good deal. This hasn't been installed yet so technically I can send back if needed...

Should I:
1) Stick with Hive and get 3 Nest alarms as a standalone detection system?
2) Stick with Hive and get cheaper alternatives such as Fire Angel?
3) Send Hive back and invest in a Nest thermostat?

If it helps my other smart home stuff is Alexa based but only comprises of smart speakers and a Ring doorbell.

Thanks

Simon

No issue sticking with Hive and adding Nest protects as standalone product.
The nest protects are excellent, a doodle to fit. They are costly but I'd pay that for peace of mind and safety of my family, so I have 4 of them. Even the British Gas engineers that come to service comment positively about them when they so their Carbon Minoxide test.

I opted for Nest Thermostats (2 zone), cameras and doorbell so that everything works together in one app and also with Google Assist and Alexa for voice control.

I did have a Ring Doorbell but had endless issues, Nest Hello has been solid. Also have one Ring Security cam but I'm swapping that out for Nest too as it done's record constantly.

So if it were me, I'd personally go all Nest and send the Hive back to future proof interconnectivity and one app. (Great app - works on smartphones, Apple TV and Browser)
But if budget it a concern, just add some protects.

Thanks for that @Mr X , the decision was actually taken out of my hands. British Gas came to install Hive and because the boiler wasn't "in their service schedule" he wasn't allowed to open the boiler and work on it. Crazy.

I sent it back and bought Hive, a local Hive Pro engineer came and fitted it with no problem at all!

I have a Ring Doorbell 2 as well, it's a bit buggy but it's doing OK at the moment. It's reliant on decent WiFi and my BT Whole Home is doing a good job at the minute.
