Tent Pegs, and beginners camping in general

Haven't been camping in about 30 years (Scouts) where I've had to pitch my own tent.
We're planning on taking the kids with some other families, fairly locally for a weekend in June, and so I've sourced a 2nd hand tent (Eurohike Darwin 4-Man). Got that, a mallet, single stove, 2 gas cans, a lamp, brand new inflatable bed and a mat for £35, so quite pleased so far.

Trial run last night to check the tent was OK. The tent's instructions weren't particular clear but we got there in the end. But what I've found is the tent pegs are mostly a load of crap.
The normal ones bend half the time, and the blade shaped ones seem to buckle at the top so you can't get anything through them to pull them back out.

So any recommendations for replacement pegs, and any tips at all for camping as a beginner. It's only a 2-nighter initially, but any essentials and usual items I should be taking?

thanks

Best pegs ever. Not cheap but in strong winds worth every penny.

We love camping but the bedding as we've got older is putting us off. Lost count of the number of times we've woken in the middle on the night with a flat air bed data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Next door loved us plugging in the electric pump to reinflate it at 3 in the morning data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
