Photos to large on desktop

My wife has just got back from a walking week in Italy and she took a lot of photos on her camera.I have just transferred them to her laptop but when we went to look at them they were far to big.I have been trying to find a way to reduce the size but cannot find a way.Her O/S is Windows 10.Even photos she took earlier in the year are now too big.Is there a way we can reduce the size of the photos.

By 'big' do you mean only a small part of the image is being displayed and is taking up a large part of the screen? That's a display setting in the program you're using to view the photos, not a property of the photos.

You don't say what that program is, but the setting may be called something like default zoom.

Or it may be remembering the zoom level you last used, so you could try reducing that.

My wife seems to have sorted out the problem she said she right clicked on size and it said it was set at 100% and she changed it to 50 % which solved the problem.

try changing the settings to " shrink / zoom to fit " if your using windows 10 default viewer

Just use 3rd image view software, such as ACDsee 3.0 .... yep ,use the old version and it works great !
