TV's Matt Houston - Lee Horsley (who bears an uncanny likeness to Errol Flynn) stars in this entertaining tale of swords and sorcery as the dashing hero Prince Talon who's out to avenge the death of his parents at the hands of the evil King Cromwell (played by perennial B-movie 'baddie' Richard Lynch)
Basically this is a fun albeit somewhat muddled feeling movie and one that in addition, curiously can't seem to decide as to it's intended target audience. Some scenes are pleasantly reminiscent of the old Errol Flynn swashbucklers; all round energetic and great family entertainment, but these scenes are then suddenly juxtaposed against a number of rather intense and overtly adult orientated gore scenes (executed by the fx genius of Greg Cannom)
Performances, as a number of other commenter's have noted, are generally hammy but good natured and it is clear that the cast were having great fun filming this.
Of special note is the tremendous finale in the movie which pits our hero against not only his intended nemesis but also the sorcerer of the title in a battle to the death - great stuff!
