Siblings Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett star as the members of a rock band and try to make it out of their small industrial town by going on tour. Of course Jett doesn't care about much of anything and even wants to take her very young son (Billy L. Sullivan) on tour with them. Naturally their parents (Gena Rowlands and Jason Miller) do not care for this development at all. Rowlands and Jett continue a long family feud that has been going on for a long time. Miller hates the conflict as he is torn between his wife and his child. Fox proves to be the stability that all need. None can make it without him. Writer-director Paul Schrader's disappointing film just never takes off. Fox is left to carry sub-par material and he just cannot pull it off. Everyone else just struggles here. What was it with "Family Ties" stars making rock films (Justine Bateman a year later starred in the terrible "Satisfaction")? 2 stars out of 5.
