Private Plate v750 Query

Hi, apologies I'm new to the world of private plates so could be worrying over nothing! I recently decided to get one for my other half's birthday, then saw one I liked as well so bought both! Her v750 paperwork hasn't arrived yet but mine has and I'm a tad confused.

The company I bought it from asked if I wanted them to assign it straight to my car or put it on certificate, as I have a lease car and have already confirmed with my leasing company that they would need the v750 and process the transfer for me I said I'd need a certificate as it was going on a lease car. When my v750 arrived it has the company I bought the plates from as the Owner, and my lease company as the Nominee. The latter kind of makes sense as it's going on their car, but I'm slightly concerned that my name and address isn't anywhere on the v750?

It's also been signed on behalf of the company, but not dated. I'm presuming that I just date it and send it off to the lease company with a covering letter and their admin fee, but as I say I just have a niggle that I've bought something that doesn't have my details anywhere on the certificate as the owner?

It would certainly seem to complicate the issue that the vehicle owner and the VRM owner are different.
Leasing being much more popular now, and owning a vehicle relatively less so, you'd certainly hope the personal VRM suppliers are confident in dealing with such situations.
Obviously you want ownership of the VRM to transfer to the next vehicle you lease/own, but maybe the leasing companies are also able to facilitate such transfers, especially if you lease from the same company again.

Yes thanks,  I'm confident the lease company knows what they're doing, they've already sent me through all the information on their processes for getting it on and off (I just have to remember to contact them 6 weeks before the end of the lease). My concern, hopefully unfounded, is that the v750 currently doesn't recognise anywhere that I've bought the number in question.

Actually I now have a secondary problem that this morning she raised the idea of switching cars between us in the near future, which might be tricky now my plate has my leasing company's name on

This is an area where many people get confused.....a private individual never owns a VRM because in the UK they are all the property of the DVLA.
You can have a piece of paper that entitles you to assign it to a vehicle, but once this has been done it becomes part of that vehicle just like any other number on any other vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle can then at some point in the future apply to transfer the VRM to another vehicle or put it on retention.

I'm sure that what @IndianaBlues would like is something legally in place to stop the lease company from selling the VRM on without his permission, if indeed they are able 'just because they own the car and by default the VRM it carries'.

Of course, that could well all be explained and in place in the lease T&Cs

I have never leased a car so have no experience in this area.....but I do know you can be in a similar position with your own insurance company regarding a VRM you have assigned to your own vehicle. If your vehicle was to be stolen/not recovered or written off and you receive a settlement from your insurance company, they then become the legal owners of the vehicle so are entitled to do whatever they want with the VRM. The way around this is to contact them beforehand and agree that they will have no interest in the VRM should the situation arise.
Which is essentially what you were saying.

Thanks all, I'll speak to the lease company tomorrow and make sure that the v750 will be suitable as-is (which I believe it will be based on everyone's comments,  but I'll also contact the insurers to get their view on the write-off aspect as well).
