I used a Normfest viro one shot (about £5ish from carpart4less) in my Mondano, after fitting a new pollen filter. You use the box as a holder and stick it in passenger footwell pointing at the air intake. Switch air con off, recirculate on and fan switched to max. 5-10 mins later and the musty air con smell had gone. I left it about 15 mins though. Did mine a few months ago and still smells fresh. Only one I have tried but well recommended

i just leave the climate control on auto all year round
set the temperature to where i want it and let the AC/Heater do the rest, never had a problem with doing that

My only problem with this is when my OH drives the car. She manages to set climate control things to settings I can’t find in the instruction manual!!

But yes - if you have automatic climate control use it all the time and it’ll work it out. One button for demist and it sets the stuff to the best possible demist. Press auto when done and all is well

As you say yourself, just press the auto button. Can’t see why it is a problem when your OH changes the settings, simple to restore it.

To be clear I am not seeing it as a problem. Simply pointing out that plenty of people with automatic climate control muck around looking for the best way to demist, reach and maintain a comfortable temperature etc when the auto button is there as is a demist button. My OH has automatic CC in her car too and never uses that either.

Well, I've been using the AC a lot and demisting the windows no problem. Mrs moans about it giving her a cough (even if it is on and the heating is up). I know for a fact she doesn't use it when she is out in it. She was out last night and this morning took an age to get the windows fully demisted. There were even two patches of moisture inside the windscreen (which I think were from the condenser).

I'm considering a 'Thomar 604100 AirDry car dehumidifier set' for the rear parcel shelf (I suppose I can still call it that, it is a saloon).

And a couple of 'Seal Products Damp Eater - Home/car anti-humidity dehumidifiers' for the windscreen.

As I can't trust her to use the AC.

We have an earlier version of this which was brilliant in a previous car with an untraceable leak that had condensation running down all the windows on cold mornings. Completely fixed it, or rather masked it   We used to keep one of the pair in the car and the other on a radiator in the house.

Edit: The second set look good if that "recharge now" badge works as intended.  I doubt you'd need all of them, I'd try one set to start with.

Fill an old sock with cat litter and place it under the front seats, if the other half is in your bad books, then don't forget to use some used cat litter
