@DanoS4, just seen your set up in the desk thread, I am now embarrassed that I put my photos up without some sort of tidy up first! That is quite a set up you have there, (is that an Akai sampler I see?), kit run down would be interesting.

lol - it's not what it looks like, it's what you do with it
Kit list? eek.
SSL Nucleus with iMac running Logic Pro X & ProTools 10. SHED loads of plugs (far too many to list), Ipad
Alesis Monitor 1s, Quadraverb , Midiverb 3
Yamaha KX88, SY77, Tenor-ion, 01v
Roland XP30, V-Synth XT, TR626, DEP3, A80
Korg Kronos, Wavestation AD, NanoPad, Kaoss Pad 3
Access Virus B
Focusrite Platinum Trakmaster channel
Akai S3000xl, fully loaded
MOTU 828mk2, 828mk3 (aggregate devices with the SSL)
Emagic Unitor 8mk2 MIDI interface
Tascam MM1

To be honest, I'm downsizing a bit, in preparation for a move to my new room next year
01v is going, as is the MM1. All audio inputs will go in to the 828s.
I'm flogging the Midiverb, TR626, DEP3, Tenorion, and Focusrite (little point in keeping this mic pre, as the SSL is quite good at this!)

Dan

Nice! I did have an SY77 at one point which was a lovely board, (bought for £150, sold for £165), came with all manuals and if I remember, a "cookbook", which seemed to tell you how to place each orchestral instrument sound within the stereo field to accurately reproduce a full orchestra sound.

My set up has always been my plaything rather than anything serious as I am not a brilliant musician, and play purely for my own enjoyment. My son is one of those annoying people who seem to be able to pick up any instrument and be good on it from the off, (I think the music genes skipped a generation in my family!), and the recent additions are mainly to help him outside of college with different techniques and processes that he wouldn't have the time to explore and play around with.

I used to be involved with a local band as sound guy, and did a few memorable gigs with them. The most interesting was for a local comedian/musicians wedding where the band was joined by a few guests, (who were quite merry would be the best description!), the highlights being John Miles trying, (and not really succeeding), to play piano then guitar, and Brian Johnson singing Route 66 while jumping around in a kilt!

My son did his first college performance this week which went pretty well, played piano for the first number then jumped onto bass for the rest. Good tight band, which showed up the school bands he was in in that the drum/bass was never quite there enough to hold the whole band together, (he was playing guitar more at that point). I did take some small video clips of him playing which I may put up at some point.
