First of all I'm not a musician however I do love listening to music. My two children both play piano, the eldest also sings and writes her own music, so they've inherited from somewhere and it just skipped me !
Along with a Yamaha which is my eldest's daughters main instrument, I've just bought a Roland KR 650 on ebay for a bargain price. It has a few issues - none of the G keys work, the main power button is missing its top cover and some of the features buttons seem to be stuck down or "sticky" when used. Knowing all of this before purchase, I have got a service manual for the 650 plus the owners manual. I'm happy to strip and replace faulty components or repair wiring etc, but I wanted to know if anyone else had come across the issue where just a certain note doesn't work across the full range of octaves ?
The idea is to connect it up with the Yamaha and the MacBook Pro with USB/MIDI along with the pre-amp, Leak main amp and Leak speakers and a couple of mics to create a mini-studio. My kids will be the musicians, me just the techie to fix things and wire them together and maybe act as a roadie for them !
Any thoughts or experiences with the Roland KR 650 much appreciated. Yes, I will also be learning piano too.

Hi - I ve got a Roland KR-4500 piano (seems to be a bigger sister of KR-650 - judging by the look) and do not know how to open the cabinet to get inside. The top cover seems to be hard-fit from the inside - no clue how to open it to check reach the interior. Pls answer: [email protected]
