Was opened up a bit to allow a little more space as it looked too cramped , can dry some logs out either side or whatever , it will look more like when hearth and resting stone in place which will lift it up.
5kw power rating and after an initial purchase hope to get the majority of logs for free.

I don't know if its possible with your chimney, but with mine, even though it is now lined up to the top, there is a plate about 2M up the chimney.  In the plate are a couple of holes and ducting then takes warm air from around the fire, up the line of the chimney and then breaks through into a couple of vents in the bedrooms above.  Not a huge amount of heat, but enough to take the edge off the temperature upstairs.

im just choosing a woodburning stove for myself as well Julian good work, but why didnt you put a bigger one in? some wide with nice big glass, would be nice. I found interesting futuristic wood burning stoves, take a look
