I don't think enormous portions is a thing for most fast food chains in Europe. On the contrary, in most cases I find that the quantity served compared to the price is unjustifiable if you consider the healthier options you have available at around the same budget. Why pay £5 for a Big Mac meal, which would not even satisfy you appetite, when you can give £1-2 extra to get a healthier sandwich or salad? And let's not talk about other countries with much cheaper restaurants than the UK, where you can enjoy a proper meal for less than 10 euros.
