I'm trying to increase the amount of protein I'm eating so am looking for any recommendations of protein bar. I'm currently using grenade carb killa chaos which I do enjoy but wouldn't mind a wee change. Any suggestions?

Quest protein bars are the best I've had. Expensive but good for a treat every now and again

But aren't these things still full of sugars and non essential fats?
If someone can post links to the actual ingredients in these things then I'll get my missus to have a look at them. She can decipher them and see the hidden sugars and all that stuff. Trained as a nutritionist a few years ago.

I make my own (posted as such ages ago), but make a batch of a sunday night and have one for breakfast of a week day, the ingredients are as follows -
rolled oats (forget the excact weight now - but know how to measure it by look - think about 65gr per bar?)
6 scoops of protein powder
tablespoon of chia seeds
2 tablespoons of ground flaxseeds
5 teaspoons of cinnamon
dark choc chips
desiccated coconut
chopped / crushed nuts - typically almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts
bit of mixed fruits etc  - can be chopped dates, raisins etc
mix these together...
add about 2 tablespoonds of honey and mix again...
I buy the packs of 3 alpro soy milk (250ml) of either choc or vanilla flavour and pour one of those in... mix it all together and you should get a sticky mess...

I divide that into 5 balls - then pour some oats into the bowl again and roll the balls in that to get a decent coating of oats...

now, you can either place them in the fridge - or what I've been doing recently is bunging them in the oven for about 20 minutes an they make a nice cake if you do bake them - best to flatten them down a bit...

as for the quest bars - you can make your own... !
buy some of this -
VitaFiber Low Calorie Sweetener  - 700g
and add some protein powder to it... they are lovely - and you need a silicon mould to shape them, butthey're still expensive to make (tho, cheaper than the quest bars) - and the last batch of it I bought seemed to be watered down a bit?

again - look on youtube for videos...

Probably better of having a Mars bar and a protien shake than getting one of the branded ones.

Protein bars generally have as much carb as protein. You'd be better off having musclemouuse, or better yet 2 whey shakes or even better eggs, chicken or bacon.

i've been changing my homemade protein bars over the month or so - making muffins / cup cakes with them with various success - as normally by the friday they get too hard and dry (I made a batch of a sunday night) - the best one seemed to be the first one - as this didn't contain flower and was still moist...

but last night i made some biscuits that contained 5 scoops protein powder - 3/4 tub of crunchy peanut butter (the bog standard co-op sized one @340g), oats (over half cup?), plain choc chips, sultanas, cinnamon, flax seeds, 2-3 tablespoons honey, 2 eggs, 1 heaped tablespoon of melted coconut oil, pinch of baking soda and salt (tho, not sure they're really needed - just some recipes i saw used them) and mixed all together - and i needed a few drops of milk to make it more gooey - and made 10 biscuits / cookies...

just had 2 now and they're lush...
