That would be an issue with all drip systems wouldn't it due to how open they are?

I use a Steam Crave dripper and it's never had a spit at me, I also used a Mark T dripper and that was fine.
Mark T was used at 1.5 ohms and the Steam Crave is .25.
The steam came with a tip with a anti spit plate but I use my old Mark T drip tip as I prefer that one.
I'll dig the review out for you to have a peep at.

Edit, got it. I find this chap a bit OTT but at the same time unlike some he will moan and groan if somethings not right.

The cleito is a very good tank, but imo it doesn't come alive until at least 60w. Which coil are you using? At 40w I would imagine that would be the 0.4? I've currently got the 0.2 going at around 70w, but reckon I will be getting some 0.4 coils soon so I can reduce the wattage down to about 40w.

Yep 0.4 @ 40w. That's the max my battery goes up to. Seems to be perfect for me, not too strong but still puffing out big clouds! Flavour too is spot on, again not too strong but taste is good.
The more time I spend with the Cleito the more I like it...
