You should let the juice soak the coil for 5 minutes and take puffs without pushing the fire button. This draws the juice through the coil and soaks it.You should do this every time you change coils. The burnt taste comes when you hit the fire button and the juice hasn't had a chance to soak the wick so your burning dry cotton.
I'm guessing the coils are 1.8 ohm so 12 watts should be enough.
Personally I go by volts never going higher than 4.9.
If your still getting the burnt taste you might have to change the coil and do the above before hitting the fire button.

Glad you like the new tank and are saying off the stinky cigs.
A burnt taste is common when you are either overpowering the coils, or they are not getting enough liquid to keep up with vapour being pulled, this can be affected by the juice type and viscosity as well as the coil design, and your vaping technique.

EDIT:- 'priming' the coils will help as well as suggested above by Jerry.

What coil ohms are you using on it (should be able to read this on the wee screen on the Istick)?

At the end of the day, I would adjust the power to suit the taste/vapour production.  30w is probably way too much for the stock 1.8-ish coils, and I wouldn't really go above say 15w on my similar Emow coils.  In my experience, higher watts are really only  needed when you are using lower resistance coils.  Even on my lower 0.5 ohm - ish coils I seldom need to go above 20w to get a nice taste and vapour production.

If you never use the full power output of the 30w Istick, don't worry, the battery will have a longer time between charges. Less likely to leave you with a flat battery.

I am on about 4.7V so sounds about right, the burn taste is no longer there.

Coil is a 2ohm.

Good advice on soaking the coil, will remember to do that.

Depends on juice type (custard trashes them quite quickly, 'lighter' liquids less so), I was getting a a fortnight or so out of my Kanger emow coils using fruit flavoured juices.  More often than not I changed the coils when I changed flavours anyways, and I switched to Unicoils for better flavour/re-wicking.

If you are worried about a coil cacking out on you unexpectedly, maybe keep a spare one in a pill fob on your keyring.

wrap the coil in a little kitchen roll, or wicking material to stop it rattling.

You're best to use Variable Wattage instead of Volts. Using wattage will automatically increase/decrease the volts if you change coils etc and it reads different ohms to give you the same vape. Just need to press the fire button 3x to change to wattage.

You won't need 30 watts unless you are using below 1 ohm coils generally. Your best range for Kanger coils will be between 8w and maybe 15w with a 2ohm coil. I only used to use 1.8ohm and id use them up to about 12 max. But find what you like, somewhere in that range is good.
