Hi all - I have searched and searched but have not found the answers to this.
We have recently bought a Xbox 1 X for the family to replace our aging 360. I have the main gold account set up under my name and an associated email address and then we have 4 kids accounts (or more accurately gamertags perhaps?)set up on the 360, which although they get achievements when playing games, they do not have any email accounts associated with them.
I wish to transfer these to the new Xbox 1. How do I do this? Do I need to create an email address for each one before transfer?
It looks like at least with the new Xbox 1 to sign in all I will need to do is to allocate a controller to each gamertag - as long as I can sort out the account transfer.
Thanks in advance.
Adam

That's a good question. Since they are technically sub accounts under your "main" tag and have no email addresses associated with them, I'd assume they'll load right along with yours. You've got to remember, you're not technically transferring accounts. You're just loading their info onto a new device in order to gain access to them. Just type in your email address and password under the Add Account option.

Thanks for the response Alien. I would have thought so too but when I logged into the Xbox 1 there were no sub-accounts found at all. I went through all the menus and settings and could not find them. I wonder if these sub accounts are simply stored on the 360 without any cloud support?

I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, it could very well be that those sub-accounts are device specific. You should try creating a new account with one of those Gamertags to see what happens. My guess is you won't be able to. In that case, it's a matter of retrieving them. Last resort, or maybe first choice... 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Thanks for that Alien - I need to go away for a few days but I will give them a call. Getting support online through xBox themselves has been a bit of a pain with some of the support pages timing out - maybe something to do with the fact I am in Australia? (just kidding).
I didn't want to create a new account just for the kids - but I may need to try that if the support line is unable to help.
