I'm due a new mobile end of the month (should be October because Vodafone likes to extend your contract). I have looked at the Huawei p30 pro and I really do like it but with all this legal action against them, should I still get one? I moved from Samsung to Sony and I'm just not liking either (granted the last Samsung I had was S6). I'm just wanting something that is good for music with or without headphones and I heard a friends Huawei without headphones and was blown away. So is it still worth going for it or should I get something more supported? What are the new Oppo and Nokia like? Any help is appreciated.

Loving my P30. I prefer it in many ways to the P30 Pro - flat screen, higher-res for the size, perfect size in the hand, cameras nearly the same as the Pro, and 3x tele probably more useful than 5x day to day. Getting regular updates, the latest 178 yesterday made the FPS utrafast (after resetting them), and improved the colour balance across the superb cameras, and seemed to make the 3x tele sharper. Also enjoying the free Sonos One that came with pre-orders.

Trump is just using sanctions as a protectionist measure, and will probably lift them as part of a deal, but you need to decide what you think will happen. The security concerns are more to do with 5G infrastructure.

Current Huawei models will be unaffected by this stuff, it's only a potential problem for future models. My P30 Pro is great and works exactly as it should, I still get regular updates and all my apps work. It's a great bit of kit.

If this is your only worry about the Huawei phones, I would go ahead and purchase the mobile. The speakers are excellent quality and they have established themselves within the mobile phone industry.

In terms of the 5G plan, this will only affect the future models, your P30 pro will be fine.
