Hi anyone listen with the grills off on there speakers. Just got mission qx 2 ones sound fantastic btw . Keep hearing about putting speakers on stands and taking off grills for even better sound? Heres my set up,,,rega rp3 also . Upgrade to rega exact from elys maybe too?

Can't comment on upgrading the Rega Exact but I think positioning of equipment could be improved. AFAIK, the Rega is a rigid (non-suspended) turntable so to position it on the same surface as the speakers is not a good idea as it may well adversely affect sound quality.

Also, try to avoid placing the turntable midway between the plane of the speakers because there is often a a strong bass emphasis at that position which won't do the turntable any favours (you can check this out by ear). If you really must place the speakers and turntable on the same surface, then get some speaker isolation pads or platforms - there are many types and they're readily available. Alternatively, you could look into isolating the turntable from the shelf instead of isolating the speakers.

Great reply thank you !  Just bit worried regarding speakers on stands because of ,,, cat !   Ive got isolating metallic pads under the speakers at mo . Wife giving me that look ,, as i mention speaker stands lol divorce on hands !

So just to be clear, you already own the speakers yet you want someone else to tell you whether they sound best with the grilles on or off?

You need to bring the speakers forward so that they are sitting proud of the front of the shelf by about 25mm, that will help get rid of some close reflections. I do think though that you are in the best position to tell if they sound better with the grills on or off.
