Tangent Ampster BT II Integrated Amp Review & Comments

I compared the Tangent BT2 to a Pioneer A10-K at Richersounds with a pair of Mission LX-2s.

In a blind listening test I found the acoustic performance of the Pioneer substantially better than the Tangent. A range of frequencies seemed to get muffled in the Tangent, which remained in the Pioneer.

Given, the Tangent is a compact amp, and has Bluetooth so it might be unreasonable to expect it to perform as well as a full size unit. But, nevertheless, I was disappointed. If compactness is a must, then this amp is a good option. But if you don't care about size then get something else in the same price range.

Cheers

The spec doesn't really tell you anything.

No distortion levels
No frequency used
No power consumption

While the watt figures may be taken at recognised distortion levels as show it doesn't inspire to believe them at present. Certainly if it is a A/B class amp the power consumption also gives a reasonable indication of the true capabilities.

If they want the unit to standout it would be worth adding more detailed spec.

Hi all,

I want to use it for my ceiling speakers around the house, but can I connect two pair of speakers to the amp? I have 4 speakers and ideally would like to connected them to the same amp. Speakers are 8Ohms.

Thanks,
