I bought an old PC with IDE connections, just to backup my music harddisk, and it works !  With the small flaw that has been described higher, that the album titles did not copy.
PS I saw that some store in The Netherlands sell a CDR-HD1500 as new for about 700 Eur.

As I pulled out the harddisk (to copy it) from the CDR-HD1500 a few days ago, I noticed it was very hot. After only 2 hours of operation. Anyone noticed the same ?   I then opened the machine, and I found that the harddisk cage and tray are totally not built for decent heat evacuation.  I also noted that, hardisk noise is louder in the machine, than out of the machine. I will try to find some links on the net and elsewhere.  Just to warn you, this heat buildup will reduce the longevity of your disk.

There was a German manufacturer that tweaked the CDR-HD1500 a few years ago, but they can not be found on the net. (DSC-Version (Diestertich Suspension Concept) as tested and described in Stereoplay magazine 5/2006)

Is anyone able to help me? I bought a CDR HD1300 and it was so good I wanted another one for use at the school where I work. By this stage, I could only get the newer HD1500 but I have not been able to use it in the same way as the 1300. I am still able to record onto the hard drive from any source but have had no success in burning anything onto CD.

On the 1300, whatever I have on the hard drive will copy to CD with ease. After momentarily giving the message 'OPC ADJUST' the display then shows the copy progress of each track in minutes and seconds. The whole process is very quick and easy.

By contrast on the 1500, when I go to copy to CD  I get the same OPC ADJUST message but then the display says 'Imaging 0%.' The process then very very slowly progresses until after what seems like an eternity we eventually get to 100%. However, when you then go to play the CD, part of the first track is there but nothing else. Has anyone else noticed this? Is something set incorrectly or do I have a faulty unit?

Thanks to anyone who has a suggestion. Happy New Year to all.

Hi Pearson,

No, you don't have a faulty unit. When you get a message "imaging 0%" , it means that you are making an ANALOG copy or the copy-level is adjusted. When doing so, the CDR-1500 will automatically creates an image file on the harddisk before starting the procedure of copying a disk.
So try to use Digital Copy or Digital Move and don't adjust the level.

Kind regards,
RoBoDutch

PS: Happy New Year too

Hi again,

Thanks for your help, I am beginning to understand things a little more. The 1500 would only allow me to make digital copies to CD of files I had recorded directly from a computer. It told me 'can't copy' if they were tracks I had taken from a CD, I believe for copyright protection reasons, (the 1300 that I have at home does not make this distinction.) This must have been why I set the 1500 to analogue recording in the past.

My problems have not quite gone away. I set the 1500 to Digital Copy and tried to copy a disk of student compositions from the hard drive to CD, (no problems with copyright here.) I was hugely encouraged to see the same messages I get on the 1300 at home, (no longer 'Imaging 0%') but I still get the problem that the process works for less than a minute and then abruptly stops. I get 51 seconds of track 1 on my CD and that is it.

Is there any other thing I am doing wrong here or may there indeed be a fault on the CD drive?

Thanks again for all of your time. The advice you have is greatly appreciated.

All good wishes,

Mike Pearson

I have had one of these HDD/CD CDR-HD1500  recorders for many years, for recording from FM or copying discs. Is it possible to set a timer to switch on to record at a certain time from FM radio or radio stations on SKY please? Thanks in anticipation.Peter.

Yes, you need an external mains timer (like this) attached to the recorder. See page 32 of the Manual for details.
