The Rega Elex has a very good power supply, although not quite as good as the Elicit-R, if you can find one with budget, both will the drop of ohms to be well catered for. I've not listened to Rega with Focals so can comment on that combination.

The Denon has a fine build quality and is of a similar power output to the Elex but would give you more on board with it's own DAC and the Advanced AL32 Processing Plus. This makes the Denon more flexible.

The Regas are beautiful sounding pure analogue amps, quite neutral but I find my Elicit-R is outstanding on female vocals. If a DAC is needed I've just taken delivery of a Denon SACD that has AL32 onboard and I've been knocked out by the detail that is now available to me.

OK so I missed out on a Musical fidelity M6si (not by much )
So I have been looking around again and I have found myself directed to another MF amp the M5Si.
The reviews I have seen on it seem to match my requirements but i would still like to be convinced?

The thing I liked about the reviews I read was that the high ends were not exaggerated (I find too much HF a bit tiring) and the bass has "incredible control"

What do people think of this amp on hear? Also given that I have no problems in buying a second hand amp what other brands would you recommend given that my favorite bands are the Beatles, Led zeppelin, pink floyd and the like but I also like other artists like Elkie Brooks also I just love Reggae.

So quiet eclectic but not too much classical

I recently tried a whole host of amps in that budget. My favourites were CYRUS OneHD, Roksan K3 and Yamaha 1100/2100. I eventually got the Yamaha 2100 because of the quality of sound, the build quality and if I’m honest,......the VU meters! Any of those would drive the MA speakers no problem, I tried all three amps on both the 100’s and 200’s. Good luck.

Thanks Guy's for all the help, to honest taking it all in was a bit of a headache but got there in the end and Bought a Musical fidelity M6I... "What a difference and amp makes" sounds like the start of a song
But now I have a new problem (isn't life like that?) I have a perfectly good record deck from the 80's that I use to play some of my records that are not in the best of condition, however there is nowhere as far as I can see to plug it in.
I have a MS LX2 LPS phono stage but that is used for the Gyrodec. Howver ther is a place to plug in another deck into the phono stage and it is a MM which is correct for my old deck and the Gyrodec is a MC, the phono stage is switched on the front MM/MC will this work?
Also, Sorry this is getting a bit long.... Would something else be a better alternative to the phono stage that has a headphone socket on it?
