Spent the last couple of days looking for an outside motion sensor and not having much luck.

Can anyone help and recommend one? It would be fitted under the edge of the porch, but will still get wet.

Light sensor would also be a plus.

Needs to work with Smartthings hub

Cheers

I have a number of (relatively cheap) Xiaomi motion sensors which I use with Smartthings, one of which is mounted under the edge of a garage that detects motion across the drive and triggers barking dogs from Echo's when Smartthings is on Away mode.

I assume the Xiaomi & Aqara are the same sensor? They look good for £15

Yes, same sensor. What I like about them is that they are cheap and the batteries last ages compared to the Samsung ones.  However, some people have had difficulty pairing them. You need to install device handlers as they're not natively recognised.

Thanks for the advice. Just watched a YouTube clip on pairing them with ST, doesn't look too bad.
I've taken a punt at £15. Cheers

I read something earlier that it can work with the V3 hub. I have the older v2

The "Outside motion sensor" you were looking for is an outdoor motion sensor? If so, you need to consider the outdoor environment when order it. Neither Xiaomi motion sensor nor Aqara motion sensor can work outdoor because of their operating temperature and humidity. The screeshot comes from the official product specifications on Motion Sensor & Detector | Aqara. And as Somebody said, they are nearly the same sensor with the same specifications. The manufacturer is Lumi United (Xiaomi's subsidiary).

So I've got the Aqara motion sensor and so far it's absolute rubbish. Once I actually get it to pair and get it working, it'll disconnect over night. The only way to get it to work again is to re-pair it

Might be getting somewhere slowly now.
It looks like the ST smart plug acts as a Zigbee repeater and it was connecting to that. It's now connected directly to the hub and been OK for 24hrs so far.
Not tried it outside yet though
