Digital Vs. Analog

I guess it's been long enough to ask these questions, and I'm curious about what has been the experience of TV repairmen and owners since the age of digital TVs began.

In the beginning it appeared to me that digital TV sets did not last as long as the analog TVs of the past, and also that they are more difficult to work on. I routinely see more of the LED/LCD TVs out for trash than I ever did of CRT TVs.

Can digital TVs now be considered "disposable" electronics?

Also, how does picture degradation over time compare between the two?

I just returned from looking at some 65 inch TVs at Best Buy (ie: Samsung QLED & LG OLED) and noticed the pictures on the display models were not as "perfectly" sharp as they were when I studied them back in December and had developed other slight artifacts.

Being display models I guess this may be expected, but I'd like opinions from those here with experience. (I'm considering purchasing an open box set).

Thanks.
