Can anyone please recommend a mic for a Sony HDR FX1000?
(mini jack rather than XLR.)
The mic will be fixed on camera, and will be used both indoor and outdoor.
I’m based in the UK.

Thanks
Dave

The Rode video mic pro and Rode Stereo mic are both good mics for a camera like yours. There are other makes of similar price and quality but Rode mics are what i have so i cant comment on them.

Hi -Welcome.
Can you say what's wrong with the existing mic?
If you can get close to the sound-source, then almost any mic will be good enough, IMHO.
FWIW This is a old camcorder ( c. 2008?), so it may not be worth spending new money on it...  If you can tell us what you will be recording ( family, Commercial, documentaries, etc. ) someone is bound to have some ideas....  but let us know "Budget" - Any modern camcorders with solid-state memory will be far advanced compared with analogues of some years ago.

Cheers.
