laptop battery not changing charge

Having a power issue with my laptop

Currently the battery bar is showing as charging and at 56%, however its permanently at 56%, never goes up or down, if the mains cable is disconnected then the laptop just turns instantly off as if it has no battery attached!

I've tried uninstalling and resintalling drivers, hard power reset etc but to no avail.

I installed battery bar pro which is stating a battery wear of  58.3% so not great but not completely gone it seems

Any thoughts on where the issue may lie?

Sounds like the battery is on the way out.

But just to check if the PSU is working okay, take out the battery and try running off the PSU.
