Hi all,

Purchased the above (Skyhawk Surveillance model) brand new and sealed. Connected to PC to format it but it's only showing as just under 1.5tb. I'm still using Win 7 Ultimate so thought it might be that so tried on a Win 10 PC and the same problem.

Searched the internet which suggested changing from MBR to GPT which I did but the same thing. Was also suggested to download Seagate DiscWizard which I did but again the same result.

Have I bought a dud or am I missing something obvious???

Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Check the model number of the drive the 6TB models are ST6000VX001 and ST6000VX0023.

Download Gparted .iso image and use linux live usb creator to make USB boot version from DVD image (if you have DVD drive just burn .iso). See what gparted makes of the drive and if there are any hidden partitions.

The latter model number matches the hard drive so that's a relief .

Downloaded and made the bootable usb stick but when I try to run the 'Virtualize_This_Key' exe within windows it crashes to the blue screen of death. And when it runs from boot up it doesn't see the drive at all.

SORTED!!!

The problem was I was using the drive in an external usb caddy!

Installed it internally and immediately Virtualbox saw that 4tb was unallocated. It was a simple drag and drop to merge the 2 partitions and VOILA! I now have 5.45tb!!!

next010 you're an absolute legend! Thank you!
