i am an existing vive owner who is getting the index for christmas. I want to keep the base stations so it seems pointless selling the vive headset as its not worth a lot. I have also read some some games are still incompatible with the index controllers and some games favour the wands. (i love skyrim and imagine the wands work better than the index controllers)

anyway i noticed that the amazon warehouse had the wireless adapter at a very cheap price i thought i would give it a go.  I might end up keeping the vive as a wireless set up for fast paced games and the index for games like skyrim where the display matters

Don't think anyone here has one, so would be keen to hear your thoughts.

I've heard it is a far from simple setup but, once it's working, it works very well. Have some vague memories of the mic and cameras not working well but think I may be getting confused between the official and the third party adapter.

It works with the Vive Pro, so a Vive Pro wireless with Knuckles remains an option.

I can't seem to find it in Amazon Warehouse.

I had the only one in stock 2 days ago. Amazon also agreed to refund a further 20% today as I  asked them if they would be prepared to apply the black Friday 20% warehouse discount. So cost me £185 so very happy (provided it works)

Well I have now had the weekend to test it out and it works brilliantly. It's a bit of a pain to set up and the cable from the hmd to the adaptor is probably 2 inches too long but it really is a big improvement on the stock wired cable. I have the original vive with the 3 wired cable and I found that cable a pain to manage. I understand the replacement cable is better. But coming from that 3 cable set up is bliss.  The actual part you attatch to the headset is very light and you don't notice the extra weight. There is no lag whatsoever and the visuals are identical. There is a USB from the antenna to the battery which does get in the way on occasion but some people strap the battery to the headset itself. I probably will now keep the vive headset as well as get the index as a game like beat sabre works brilliantly on the wireless set up. Skyrim was great but as that's not a fast paced game I would rather use the index for the increased visuals. I hope valve can get a wireless set up for the index
