Chuwi Hi8 Pro Tablet - Chuwi
I pre-ordered this tablet from Gearbest on the 6th Nov 2015 and received it yesterday.

probably the pick of the 8 inch chinese cherry trail z8300. very nice 1080p IPS screen for what we're paying (approx $95 delivered), although highly reflective! im using the recommended 1920*1200 resolution and brightness @ 50% and the tablet came with a pre-applied screen protector. the back is plastic and not as grippy as id have liked, holding it one handed is no problem at all.

cameras are both 2mp although i wont be using them and the tablet has the option to connect to a wireless display which it does, perfectly, when held in landscape.

the hi8pro is a little porker too, mine weighs 346g using my kitchen scales, is 9.3mm thick, but im ok with that considering the connectivity: micro hdmi and SD (up to 32gb), 3.5mm headphone, type c (usb 3.0), 2gb ram 32gb storage.(10.9/28.9gb used) no GPS nor 5ghz wifi.

The HI8pro runs Win10 home and i like it! feels very much an improvement on my win7 laptop (although I have no intention of upgrading that to win10), everything is where it should be, we can have a flashy interface or a basic, no nonsense desktop. the tablet is not very snappy, it requires patience sometimes.

there is a tablet mode which will need to be activated and my only gripe (at present) is the lack of battery percentage...

a great comparison of the current 8 inch z8300 tabs:

Four 8" Cherry Trail Atom X5 Z8300 Tablets Compared - TechTablets

they're all virtually the same minus screen resolution and build quality, hence i would pick the one in my hand or possibly the teclast x80 pro, although that has not been released just yet and the build quality of the x80 plus is not as good as the chuwi vi8 plus from the video above.

there have been a few hardware/software issues which have hopefully been ironed out (hence release delay), battery is 4000mah and the tablet required over 10 hours using the 2a charger to get to 100% on its initial charge. i have been messing with it all morning (approx 3 hours updating, defender scan, geekbench, youtube in 1080p etc) and the battery is on 71%.. not bad really, but i wouldn't leave home without a power bank or the enclosed/2a charger.

the windows logo on the case is touch sensitive and allows users to switch between current window and a summary screen, displaying various programmes and apps.

sound from the hi8 pro via the 3.5mm headphone socket is very impressive, watching the new x-men trailer: apocalypse in 1080p (via xiaomi hybrid in-ear) is perfectly acceptable, display is let down by the reflective screen but i can just about cope with that.. i think it would be a no go for daytime, outdoor use though.
