It's because it's on your wrist so counts any movement as steps.
The Fitbit one which clips to your clothes is far more accurate.

That's not the case, the arm one is accurate as well but can pick up extra from cycling etc

I will dig you out a link to a blog I found , where a lady tested the difference between the one / flex and the wrist worn one was miles out.
I have had first hand experience of this myself , I could rack up 300-400 steps just by typing at my desk.

I've had mine a couple of months now and it is consistently 10% under when measuring steps and distance. Given its consistent its no big deal.

I don't really take much notice of the sleep measuring as i often take it off at night but i have been impressed with the calorie measuring which seems pretty accurate.

I really like the charge HR and am tempted to switch the surge......my wants wants the HR so wouldn't be throw away.   Given I don't wear it to bed would I better changing?

I've got a good understanding of nutrition and exercise along with how the body works.  I know how much food I'm taking in and what impact this will have on my weight in conjunction with the exercise I'm taking.

Looking at calories the watch suggests that i would be using i can see that this tallies with what i would expect.

I have been tracking (with some measurements along the way) calories and exercise for 30 plus years so pretty much know inside out how my body works.

For me, the watch is within 10% of calories burned.
