It not the cheapest hotel but reviews are mainly ok and location seems good and im not going to lie free champagne with breakfast is appealing

Berlin is awesome!! You will have a great time, go check out the local beers and landmarks. The culture, the nightlife.. everything is epic.

im booked in its cost me more than i wanted to spend but hey ho...  i suspect 3 nights wont be enough but i can always go back.

Any nice restaurant suggestions , decent steakhouse etc

It's been quite a while since we were there so I can't give specific recommendations but I'd say go for the German food served in the pubs and restaurants there rather than a steakhouse.

Back from my trip to Berlin and what a great city to explore either by foot or public transport .  Highly recommend it to anyone and id like to go back in the summer months to enjoy some of the outdoor dining / drinking .  Some highlights for me were

Mall of Berlin with the huge slide
Brandenburg Gate at night
The main park which is crazy big
Vietnamese restaurants specifically Pho Nguyen by Savignyplatz which was superb value for money.  Wasn't to taken with traditional German food tbh but luckily there is loads of restaurants to choose from.  

Just Berlin in general has a nice vibe great shopping although with the exchange rates you are not saving anything on UK prices.   Its all very spread out though and shops just about everywhere so it takes some exploring and i feel in 3 days we just touched the surface.

Hilton although not cheap is a great location and hotel with superb breakfasts so would recommend it.

Oh and one last thing how did we get around these places before phones and google assistant?

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. There is loads there. We went during the ancient days before phones and Google. We managed by a combination of exploring and guide books.

I am very glad to read this and I am sorry that i didn't see this thread in time, because I lived long time in Berlin and now very close to it. I have the same opinion about everything what was written here.
A trip to Berlin you can do at any time of the year. Tomorrow several christmas markets are starting again. The first half of october ist very interesting too, because the festival of lights is taking place.

I have many videos about the city, but because you liked the Brandenburg Gate at night I want to show you how it may look in october.

I love the main railway station. Its like something out of Doctor Who ! Have a play on the escalators and the lifts. Awesome !

A lot/all of the topless bus tours pick up outside too so you might go there anyway.
( When I say topless, I don't mean, tits, I mean there's no roof )
