As a non smoker it’s of no interest to me.  However, i do occasionally pick up some cigs/tobacco for friends/family when i’m travelling.

In a nutshell, if in a EU airport, not even worth looking looking.  Ouside of the EU, yes.

Really? Tobacco is around half the price in Belgium / Luxembourg / France. And the Government sets the price, unless it is different for the shops in the airport?

Can’t account for those countries but duty free in Germany, Spain was nothing special.

I should have added that the airport prices are cheaper than the UK high street of course but,  more than twice the price of airports outside the EU.

Everyone i know seems to be like, meh, i can get them cheaper elsewhere!!

Belgium is cheap, hence why "Tobacco Alley" exists in Adinkerke. Can't move for tobacco shops.

Not sure about that, I used to buy Cubans in London and even though the were illegal to take to the US at the time, they sold them after scanning the ticket. Although the Guy did say they might get confiscated, never did and he always sold them to me.

May be something on EU to EU tickets but I doubt it as they would have other prohibited items like above I would assume.

Entirely different matter.  The SOLE issue at play here is whether or not the goods are to be exported from the territory* you are presently in.  That's what I meant by the destination mattering or not.  What happens after that is between you and wherever you are going.

The same thing is true for an internal flight vs. an overseas flight, at a Duty Free store in a USA airport.  Domestic flight - no sale.

* meaning an Economic Area, in our case, the EU.
