Anyone booked online/bought tickets in Japan for the bullet train, is it easy to do. Looked at a few sites but not sure which way to go.

I've not bought tickets for the  shinkansen itself but buying tickets for trains in Japan is pretty simple and it is in English at the terminals.

Individual tickets are relatively expensive.  Tourist only rail passes are usually the way to go, these can include the majority of bullet trains but not every single one.
