It would be nice a nice thought though

Seriously, I do think it is a total overreaction, first the excessive force and now this. Totally unnecessary and not part of current Day western politics.

Not holding my breath that the EU intervenes.

How on earth are people supporting this illegal coup? It's amazing how easily people are fooled by well spoken people wearing suits.

Where did I say I’m supporting it? I’m merely expressing an opinion that I think the force used by Spain is disproportional.

If you don't want to be met by force, don't take part in sedition.

It's a complete over reaction by Madrid. This might dampen the passion for independence or inflame it further. We'll have to wait and see how it pans out, but given the recent history of Spain things could spin out of control very quickly indeed and in ways we might not expect.

Madrid has put out an International arrest warrant for Mr Puigdemont.
If a British man can be locked up trying to get the best cancer treatment for his son, then I am sure this should be a no brainer!

International search and arrest warrant issued for Catalan leader

The EU seem to be taking the Corbyn approach- putting their heads down and hoping it all goes away.

No problem with an arrest warrant when people have acted against the law...I do have a problem with how the police dealt with a peaceful vote that wasn't binding anyway...

How were those expressing their opinion being aggressive? Why did that peaceful act required to be met with such force?

They held an illegal referendum, that's not a peaceful act.

If you want to express your opinion, vote. If you're not allowed a vote, vote for politicians who will allow you that vote. It worked for the Scots over Independence, it worked for the British over Brexit.
